The Client’s Challenge
We were first approached by Eddi founders Sarah Pura and Jamison Pereira to design a truly sustainable soap dispenser people would be delighted to display in any environment. In Eddi, we found a partner that, like us, deeply believes in the importance of creating products that address the downstream impacts of post-consumer single use plastic, but do not sacrifice on beauty or quality.
The Strategic Approach
We went through an iterative materials and design process to determine how to remove plastic from the product system. This led us to explore options leading to the selection of an aluminum bottle given the product’s durability and ability to be infinitely reused and recycled. We challenged ourselves to make Eddi a product that removes as much plastic as possible to create a steel and metal pump system to provide a durable and timeless soap dispensing system. The Eddi soap dispenser design system is flexible to enable future brand collaborations with strategic business partners.
The Creative Solution
Box Clever worked closely with Eddi and their manufacturing partners to create a soap dispensing pump that aimed to remove as much plastic as possible. We ultimately landed on using stainless steel for the body of the dispenser and a coated zinc alloy metal for the top and bottom enclosures. The final Eddi design creates a unique new offering with thoughtful and engaging aesthetics, sustainable use of materials, durability (we intend for customers to own and use this product for years), and efficiency and ergonomics at the pump.
The Business Impact
Launched preorder in August 2021 and began shipping in September 2021 with rave reviews.
Continued positive press coverage including Fast Company, the Zoe Report, and Forbes.
We’re looking forward to continuing to team up with Eddi to scale their business and product offerings - blending sustainability & style.
